WISCASSET — The Wiscasset Speedway feature race of the night had Chris Thorne earn his third Late Model Sportsman race of the year. Thorne battled passed Ryan St. Clair for the lead with only one lap to go and hung on for victory Saturday night.

“That race was really good for us. It was competitive and I came from the back to win. There are a lot of cars in this division, and I am happy with this finish,” Thorne said. “I think we put on a good race for the fans and I bet they are pleased by it. I want to thank my wife and my kids. They were all here tonight, making this a special win. I want to thank my sponsors Trees Limited, BPS Roofing, Tim’s Trucking, and 54 Graphics.”

Chris Bowie challenged St. Clair for second but was held back, allowing St. Clair to finish second with Bowie taking third. Point leader Nick Hinkley had to pit early after making contact with Danny Smart on lap 13 and ended up in seventh place.

Next on the schedule were a two 20-lap Wicked Good Vintage Racer features. The first feature highlighted Late Models and Modified classes. Starting on the pole was Brian Hughes. Behind him was Mark Hughes and Aaron Heath. However, when the green flag waved, Heath passed Mark Hughes for second. Brian Hughes slowed in speed and Dean Grant came from the outside and passed all three leaders, taking first. Mike Ouellette also came to the front and battled Grant for the lead with only two to go. Grant surged ahead, taking the win with Ouellette second and Heath third.

The second 20-lap showcased Late Model Sportsman and Outlaws. Bob Guyon, who started at the back of the pack, wove through traffic and gained ground, eventually taking the win. Scott Tucker finished second with Bobby Symonds behind him.

A quick 15-lap Mini Truck feature was action packed. On the pole was Matt Curtis with Larry Marshall and Matt Weil behind him. When racing began, Marshall did not get a good start and fell to the back of the pack. Jerry McKenna moved to third place. A caution on lap 4 sent Curtis and Weil to the back. McKenna moved to first and battled Opie Allard from lap four until the end of the race where McKenna took a .06 second win. Behind Allard was Curtis in third.
