ATHENS — The driver of an all-terrain vehicle was taken to the hospital by LifeFlight helicopter Monday afternoon following a collision with a Jeep, according to the Athens Fire Chief.

The accident was reported at 2:51 p.m. on Boothby Road, but took place on a private road off that street, said Athens Fire Chief Travis Thompson.

“It appeared that they met on the corner and hit each other,” said Thompson.

The name of the driver, a woman, was not available, he said. There were no other injuries reported.

The Maine Warden Service and Somerset County Sheriff’s Department also responded.
