I agree with the letter written by Robert Greeley on Aug. 22 about bear hunting by baiting, trapping, and chasing with hounds.

My husband hunted bear with five hounds; when the dogs got a scent of a bear, all five dogs would chase the bear until it couldn’t go any more, and it would go up a tree. Then the hunter would shoot the bear out of the tree.

The poor bear didn’t have a chance. And they called this a sport.

Greeley is right, the current system is a cruel practice. It doesn’t give the bear a sporting chance.
