A Winthrop man is facing charges after police reportedly found explicit material on his computer.

Jon A. Hall, 20, was arrested Wednesday at his home at 56 Route 133 and charged with possessing sexually explicit material of someone under the age of 12, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a release.

Hall was being held at the Kennebec County jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail.

The State Police computer crimes unit has been investigating Hall since July after receiving a complaint from police in Newton, N.H. Police there said Hall was having “sexually explicit” conversations with a 12-year-old boy on a social media site, McCausland said.

Maine police seized Hall’s computer on July 29. A warrant was issued for his arrest after police analyzed the computer, McCausland said.
