AUGUSTA — The death of Xachary Mullins, 17, of Augusta, was ruled a suicide by the Office of the Maine State Medical Examiner following the completion of an autopsy this week. Mullins died by hanging, according to the office.

Augusta police found Mullins’ body at the site where the Statler Tissue mill once stood about 5 p.m. Aug. 29. Mullins’ hanged body was visible to people canoeing and kayaking along the Kennebec River.

Mullins previously attended Cony Middle School and Cony High School.
