BELGRADE — The Belgrade Historical Society will present a program at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Maine Lakes Resource Center, 137 Main St., Belgrade Lakes.

Drew Barton, professor of biology at the University of Maine at Farmington, will speak about the subject of his book, “The Changing Nature of the Maine Woods,” a 2013 Maine Literary Award winner. Barton will look at what Maine forests were like before Europeans settlers came to the state and how they have been transformed since that time. He’ll create a portrait of Maine’s forests in the past, present and future.
