BANGOR — An Orrington woman who was behind the wheel when she crashed her car and killed her friend after a night of bat hopping has pleaded no contest to manslaughter and drunken driving charges.

WABI-TV reports that Sarah Courtney was found guilty by a judge after entering her plea Thursday.

Prosecutors say the 33-year-old Courtney was driving the in April 2013 when she crashed in Hampden. Her passenger and friend, 28-year-old Sarah Eason of Hermon, died.

Police say Courtney was speeding and had a blood alcohol content almost twice the legal limit to drive.

Under terms of the deal, Courtney faces 2½ years on jail at sentencing scheduled for next month.
