SKOWHEGAN — Down but not yet out, the Skowhegan football team went into halftime Friday night trailing Hampden 14-12 and looking for answers.

“We wanted to run the ball more and run it between the tackles,” Skowhegan coach Matt Friedman said. “And we did.”

Did the Indians ever.

Kaleb Brown rushed for 232 yards and two second-half touchdowns to lead Skowhegan past Hampden 34-14 in a Pine Tree Conference Class B game Friday night.

Quarterback Nate Morris rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown as well for Skowhegan (2-1). Kam Doucette also ran for a touchdown.

Morris also threw a touchdown pass to Eli Holland.

“We played well,” Friedman said. “Defensively, we also played really well.”

WATERVILLE 47, OLD TOWN 23: Cam Thomas scored four touchdowns and Waterville broke open a close game to grab the Eastern C victory at Old Town.

Dan Pooler also rushed for a touchdown for the Purple Panthers (3-0).

“Our backs, what can you say?” Waterville coach Matt Gilley said. “We just had more athletes than they did. We ended up grinding them down and that sealed their fate.”

A.J. Godin also threw a touchdown pass for Waterville.

Old Town dropped to 1-2.

WINSLOW 49, MDI 8: Dylan Hapworth rushed for three touchdowns and Bobby Chenard threw for two more as Winslow rolled to the Eastern C victory.

Hapworth rushed for scores of 58, 24 and 1 yards. He also caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Chenard.

Dylan Hutchinson recovered a fumble and returned it 18 yards for a touchdown for Winslow (3-0) as well.

Sandy Henggeler rushed for a 1-yard touchdown for MDI (1-2).

LAWRENCE 17, BREWER 0: The Bulldogs maintained its share of the PTC B lead by blanking the Witches in Brewer. Lawrence (3-0) led just 10-0 at the half but used its defense to stay undefeated.
