PALERMO — Palermo Community Library has announced its new program — a Seed Lending Library — which will help participants preserve and share seeds at no cost. A workshop, How to Start Saving Seeds, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the library, 2789 Route 3.

Along with a free membership in the library, participants will be able to borrow seeds, obtain information on planting, harvesting, and collecting seeds, and, in return will agree to return some of their harvested or leftover seeds to the library at the end of the growing season so the cycle can continue. Seeds can include edibles, ornamentals and herbs. Experience is not necessary and participants don’t have to be Palermo residents.
