Kennebec Valley YMCA Chief Executive Officer Tom Warren introduced himself as one of the newest members of the Augusta Kiwanis Club and delivered a brief history of the YMCA, at a recent club meeting.
Warren spoke of the organization’s 2.2 million operating budget, which provides for 15 full-time employees and 5,154 members and more than 800 scholarships valued at over $200,000. Among the successful annual fundraising campaigns are the Strong Kids Campaign, with a goal of $240,000 and the Alfond Challenge, with a goal of $250,000.
The local YMCA will celebrate its 100th anniversary this year, Warren said to club members.
