UNITED NATIONS — Iran’s president says the goal of extremists who are creating chaos in the Mideast is the destruction of civilization and rise of Islamophobia.

Hassan Rouhani told the U.N. General Assembly that would create “a fertile ground for further intervention of foreign forces in our region.”

He said the extremists come to the Middle East from around the world with a single ideology, “violence and extremism.”

Rouhani doubted the world was united against the threat posed by the extremists, saying all countries that supported them must apologize, not only to the “past generation but to the next generation.”

In other remarks, Rouhani also said a nuclear deal is possible before the November deadline if the West is flexible.
