I find the ads on television featuring our state’s wildlife “biologists” unfortunate. I do not think people whose salaries are paid by all the state’s taxpayers should be shilling for anyone, though if they refuse to do so they are perhaps in jeopardy of losing their jobs.

It is very easy to question these state workers’ integrity — people with integrity do not allow themselves to be front men for monied interests — and knowledge, especially when anyone with half a brain realizes that baiting bears is not a good way to keep bears away from human food and habitation.

Additionally, I’ve never had the least fear of bears, despite owning land in northern Maine where bears roam freely. I’m a lot more concerned about human bad behavior, including what sort of humans enjoy shooting bears eating garbage or bears being attacked by dogs.
