BELGRADE — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine’s 2014 Golf Fore Kids’ Sake raised a record $27,647 to benefit school and community-based mentoring services for children in Kennebec and Somerset counties. Twenty-five teams competed in the 15th annual golf tournament held Sept. 5 at Belgrade Lakes Golf Club. The event was sponsored by Kennebec Savings Bank, Kennebec Wealth Management and Charlie’s Family of Dealerships, in partnership with nearly 100 contributing partner businesses and organizations. This year’s successful benefit tournament was co-chaired by Ryan Madore and Nicolas Patenaude.

2014 Golf Fore Kids’ Sake Tournament Winners:

1st Gross – Charlie Shuman, Steve Shuman, Roger Williams, Ryan Madore, of Charlie’s Family of Dealerships.

2nd Gross – Greg Jones, Mike Roddy, Jacob Roddy and Alexie McCarthy.

3rd Gross – Jason Gall, Ed Gall, Jim Quinn and Tim Bean, of Wendy’s.

1st Net – Donn Harriman, John Currier, Paul Dettore and Brent Hartley, of Saunders Manufacturing.

2nd Net – Will Bridgeo, Dan Keeley, Emil Genest and Jeff Gallant, of A-COPI.

3rd Net – Peter McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy, Dick Murphy and Brian Harrington, of The Copy Center Plus.

Most Accurate Drive – Ed Frye, of Kennebec Valley Federal Credit Union.

Closest to the Pin Contest – John Currier, of Saunders Manufacturing.

Putting Contest – Bill Purington, of Maine Drilling & Blasting.

Hit the Green Contest – Jason Gall, of Wendy’s.

Chipping Contest – Darren Hamre, of Fairpoint Communications, took home a kayak, donated by Somerset Stone Center in Oakland by chipping balls into the kayak.

Golfers were treated to a Tim Horton’s-sponsored breakfast, water and snacks from Pine State Trading and Hattie’s Chowder on the course, followed by a Maine lobster and steak dinner, sponsored by Hannaford, Ready Seafood and Lisa’s Restaurant & Catering. A live auction, featuring generously donated items, helped raise $4,700. Additional support was provided by MACPAGE and PFBF CPAs, American Awards and Are You Ready to Party.
