It has been brought to my attention that the state of Maine is the only state left that permits the cruel practice of trapping bears. When a bear is trapped, they sometimes will even chew off their own paws to get free. The pain and fear that these helpless prisoners endure is beyond my ability to comprehend.

Mother bears are often trapped, leaving behind helpless cubs to fend for themselves as best they can, which probably isn’t very well.

Dogs are used to chase a bear up a tree, where killing is easy for the hunter. Hunters also have been known to stoop so low as to “entice” the bear with treats, to win trust, then shot for an easy “trophy kill.”

If you care about the plight of these bears, would you please vote yes on Question 1 to endorse fair bear hunting?
