AUGUSTA — Maine schools are showing off their educational gardens this weekend.
Schools across the state are holding open house events on Saturday through the Maine School Garden Network, allowing visitors to see the gardens used to teach children about nature and science, healthy foods and nutrition.
Among the school systems that are participating are Windham, Islesboro and Waldoboro.
The schools will be hosting activities like garden demonstrations, food tastings, garden-themed artwork and cider pressing.
The events are free and open to the public.
