AUGUSTA— Coastal Maine communities are getting grants to support harbor management and public access to the state’s coast.

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry’s Maine Coastal Program is providing the grants via an award from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration.

Chebeague Island will receive $20,000 to assess a town-owned coastal parcel called Sunset Landing for future use. Richmond will get $7,200 to plan and design a pedestrian walkway to connect to its waterfront. Rockland will receive $15,000 to improve its public pier and $10,000 for planning technology improvements for Rockland Fish Pier.
