I’m voting to re-elect Sen. Colleen Lachowicz, D-Waterville, for state Senate, District 16.

As a children’s case manager for the past 11 years, I work every day with families with children with special needs. As our senator, Colleen helped pass a bill that makes insurance companies pay for effective treatments for children with autism up to the age of 10.

I know this will allow parents to work and get a job with benefits instead of staying on MaineCare, and for kids to get the help they need. I’m proud to vote for Colleen because our health insurance should pay for what our children need, and what is shown to work when they have autism. Maine has a high rate of autism, and I’m glad our senator is working on this.
