Facing the first Ebola case in America, we must thank the Obama administration for pushing the Affordable Care Act into law.

Ebola starts like a common cold. No one goes to the doctor for a common cold unless there’s a reason to do it, like Ebola. The Affordable Care Act improves the chances that people with insurance coverage will go for a Ebola checkup before the highly contagious disease spreads.

Maine also must approve Medicaid expansion so working poor families will be able to go for Ebola checkups, too.

Maine played a key role in the World Trade Center bombing on 9/11 when two of the hijackers stayed in Portland. Why not Ebola from a passenger stretching their legs in the terminal during an overseas fueling stop at the Bangor International Airport?
