UNITY — Jacob Scoville’s goal with 6:01 remaining was the difference as Unity blanked the University of Maine at Presque Isle 1-0 in men’s soccer action Sunday.

Richard Lee assisted on the goal. Brendan Wallace made two saves to secure the shutout for Unity (3-5-1). Caleb Bragg-Grady made one save for UMPI (2-8-1).

WOMEN’S SOCCER

UNITY 3, UMPI 0: McKinley Bell and Mariza Gionfriddo each collected a goal and an assist as Unity defeated UMaine-Presque Isle in Unity.

Alexandra Pesano had the other goal for Unity (7-2). Sierra Marchacos didn’t face a single shot on goal as Unity outshot UMPI, 8-1. Allison Lopez made four saves for UMPI (3-6).

MAINE 0, NEW HAMPSHIRE 0: Claudia Dube-Trempe made 13 stops in net as Maine settled for a 0-0 draw in an America East battle in Orono.

UNH (4-7-1, 1-1-1) dominated the first half, outshooting Maine 7-1. But the Wildcats couldn’t beat the Black Bears’ goalie. The Wildcats outshot the Black Bears (3-6-3, 1-0-2) in the second half, too. Maine put more pressure in the two overtime sessions with a 5-4 advantage, but couldn’t solve UNH keeper Mimi Borkan (six saves).

WOMEN’S TENNIS

THOMAS 7, JOHNSON ST. 2: Thomas College clinched a berth in the Northeastern Athletic Conference playoffs with a win over Johnson St. in Johnson, Vt.

Thomas (6-4, 3-3) won four of six singles and two of three doubles matches to close out the Badgers (2-11, 1-5).

Lindsey Allen, Dalia Williams, Olivia Mora and Amelia Guimond were the singles winners, while the doubles tandems of Allen/Jessica Bowen and Williams/Mora won their matches 8-0 and 8-1, respectively.
