SKOWHEGAN — Maine Grains recently donated flour for a baking class for kids lead by Sienna Mazone. A recent winner of Michelle Obama’s National Healthy Lunchtime Challenge contest, 12-year-old Mazone used the flour for her cooking class held at The Ark on Sept. 29, according to a Maine Grains press release.
“As a long-standing advocate for locally sourced, healthy food, I’m happy to support Sienna with a donation of Maine Grains flour. By showing others how nutritious food can be prepared, Sienna is making a huge impact on the health of kids and their families in Lewiston/Auburn,” stated Amber Lambke, owner of Maine Grains, in the release. “I hope others in the state will be inspired by what Sienna is doing in her community.”
Along with the donation of flour, Lambke treated Mazone, her brother Lucca and their mother to a tour of the Grist Mill. Housed in the former Somerset County Jail, Maine Grains uses a traditional stone milling process that protects the grains’ flavor making it ideal for baking and cooking.
