Several weeks ago, with a single candidate announcing intent to become the next mayor of Augusta, numerous residents implored Bill Dowling to consider running; he served previously, was extremely effective, and accomplished much. Dowling is a doer, and gets to the center of issues without wasting time. A principled man, he has the proven skills and qualities to lead the city again.

The notion that there may be conflicts because Bill is employed as a project developer by the Mattson group, is absurd. The employment opportunity followed both Dowling’s state retirement and his tenure as a previous mayor. The skills that Dowling displayed as mayor brought about an employment that has reduced local blight and resulted in huge community investments that benefit all residents and taxpayers.

Bill Dowling, proof of efficient, economic and creative accomplishment, deserves to be elected again as mayor of Augusta.
