DRESDEN —Friends of Merrymeeting Bay has announced the next event in its 18th annual winter speaker series. Searching for Historic Apples of Maine will be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Bridge Academy, 44 Middle Road.

John Bunker, author of “Not Far From the Tree: A Brief History of the Apples and the Orchards of Palermo Maine, 1804-2004,” will give a talk. Attendees are welcome to bring apples for identification.

The next presenation — the Value of Honey Bees to Maine Agriculture with Maine State Apiarist Tony Jadczak — will be held Dec. 10 at The Old Goat in Richmond.
