HANOVER, N.H. — Bowdoin jumped out to a 17-point lead at the half and beat Marist 22-14 in the Northeast Regional final of the American Collegiate Rugby Association Division II tournament on Sunday.

Addison Carvajal, Sam Hoegle and Randi London scored tries in the first half, with Carvajal also contributing a conversion kick. Le’Shauna Phinazee scored Bowdoin’s only try in the second half.

The Polar Bears will face Winona State, last year’s national champion, in the semifinals at Palm Crest, Florida, on Dec. 5.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

FRAMINGHAM STATE 0, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0, (4-3 PK): The second-seeded Nor’easters (13-5-2) fell to the Rams (15-7) in penalty kicks after playing to a scoreless tie in the ECAC Division III New England championship game in Framingham, Massachusetts.

UNE’s first attempt in the shootout was stopped by Framingham State keeper Sara Sullivan, who then converted a penalty kick to put the Rams ahead.

Taylor Littlefield, Tori Field, and Kayla Lamel converted their penalty kicks for UNE.

VOLLEYBALL

WILLIAMS 3, BOWDOIN 0: The Ephs (28-4) defeated the Polar Bears (23-9) in straight sets – 25-20, 25-14, 25-16 – to win the NCAA Division III regional in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Christy Jewett led Bowdoin with seven kills, Quincy Leech had 14 service assists, and Katie Doherty had 11 digs.

MEN’S SOCCER

BRANDEIS 1, BOWDOIN 0: Brandon Miskin scored the in the 75th minute as the Judges (19-2) edged the Polar Bears in the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Brandeis had an 18-4 shot advantage over Bowdoin (10-7-3). Stevie Van Siclen stopped three shots for the Polar Bears.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 75, SOUTHERN MAINE 60: Lee Messier scored 20 points to lead the Camels (1-1) over the Huskies (0-2) at the Connecticut College Tip-Off in New London, Connecticut.

Zach Leal scored 19 points for Southern Maine, while Fred Knight had 11 points.

EASTERN CONNECTICUT 74, COLBY 53: Chris Hudnut had 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Colby, but the Mules (1-1) lost to the Warriors in the Eastern Connecticut Tournament at Willimantic, Connecticut.

MIDDLEBURY 69, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 67: Connor Huff grabbed an offensive rebound and hit the winning basket with 1.2 seconds remaining as the Panthers (2-0) edged the Nor’easters (1-1) in Biddeford.

Dylan Sinnickson led Middlebury with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Devin Thompson had 31 points, six rebounds and four assists for UNE.

BATES 81, NICHOLS 78: Billy Selmon hit a 3-pointer with 27 seconds remaining to give the Bobcats (1-0) the lead in a win against the Bison (0-1) at the Babson Invitational in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Mike Boomazian led Bates with 25 points and seven rebounds. Graham Stafford added 22 points and 10 rebounds.

BOWDOIN 68, WESTFIELD STATE 56: John Swords had 20 points and 16 rebounds as the Polar Bears (2-0) beat the Owls (1-1) at the Westfield State Tip-Off in Westfield, Massachusetts.

Bryan Hurley and Lucas Hausman each added 15 points.

TUFTS 63, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 58: Hannah Foley scored 18 points as the Jumbos (2-0) beat the Nor’easters (1-1) at the Ramada Roundball Invitational in Biddeford.

Kelly Coleman paced UNE with 20 points, while Alanna Vose added 19 off the bench.

SOUTHERN MAINE 67, BRIDGEWATER STATE 49: Megan Pelletier had 21 points and nine rebounds as the Huskies (2-0) rolled past the Bears (1-1) at the USM Tip-Off Classic in Gorham.

Rebecca Knight finished with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Lauren Rousseau added 11 points and six assists off the bench.

CASTLETON 58, BATES 55: The Bobcats (1-1) rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit but came up just short, losing to the Spartans (2-0) in Castleton, Vermont.

Bernadette Connors led Bates with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Allie Coppola added 11 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals.

ST. JOSEPH’S 57, CURRY 42: Morgan Cahill scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Monks (2-0) beat the Colonels (1-1) in the championship game of the Curry Tip-Off in Milton, Massachusetts.

COLBY 77, LASELL 49: The Mules (2-0) hit 15 3-pointers and routed the Lasers (0-1) at Boston.

Carylanne Wolfington led Colby with 22 points.

BOWDOIN 74, UMAINE-FORT KENT 45: Mary Phelps scored 16 points and Lauren Petit added 15 off the bench as the Polar Bears (1-1) beat the Bengals (0-2) at the Maine Maritime Tip-Off in Castime.

MIDDLEBURY 2, COLBY 0: Madeline Marsh made 13 saves as the Panthers (2-0) shut out the Mules (0-2) in Middlebury, Vermont.
