PARIS — Police say a Paris man is facing charges after allegedly breaking his infant daughter’s ribs.

Joshua Dodd faces charges including assault on a child under 6 years old.

Police say the alleged assault on the 1-month-old girl occurred Nov. 12.

The Sun Journal reports that according to records, a Department of Health and Human Services worker contacted police about concerns from a doctor who found two broken ribs and bruising on the infant’s hands.

The 24-year-old Dodd told police he lifted his daughter by her arms and used his fingers to push down on her stomach due to bowel complications. Dodd told police he saw a doctor use the same technique and thought it was OK.

He remains jailed on $500 bail. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer
