A New Sharon man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly trying to outrun police while driving and reaching a speed of 92 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to a press release from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
Benjamin Savage, 21, is charged with eluding an officer, speeding more than 30 mph and civil possession of marijuana. Savage was driving at a speed of 72 mph in a 55 mph zone on U.S. Route 2 and continued to accelerate on Weeks Mills Road for a couple miles, according to the release.
He told police he kept driving, even though an officer was trying to pull him over, because he was scared, but two passengers in the car ordered him to stop.
