The University of Maine Cooperative Extension is accepting applications for its 2015 Master Gardener Volunteers program, according to a news release.

Led by cooperative extension associate professor Tori Jackson, students will receive research-based horticultural training during the 14-week course. The class will meet from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Feb. 26, 2015, at Topsham Public Library, 25 Foreside Road, Topsham. After graduation, master gardener volunteers are asked to contribute 40 hours toward community gardening projects in Androscoggin or Sagadahoc county.

Enrollment is limited to 40. The deadline for applications is 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015. The program fee is $220; limited scholarships are available.
