WINSLOW — Alex Berard’s goal off a one-timer with a little over one minute remaining proved to be the difference in the Black Raiders’ season-opening 7-6 win over John Bapst at Sukee Arena.

Winslow was up 6-2 heading into the final period before a four-goal flurry from Bapst allowed the Crusaders to tie it up with 2 minutes, 39 seconds remaining.

Berard and Jacob Trask paced the Black Raiders with three goals apeice, while Jimmy Fowler finished with four assists.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MCI 49, WATERVILLE 27: Ashley Alton scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Huskies to the KVAC B win Friday in Waterville.

Sidney Morton added nine points for MCI (1-0) while Cassie Miller had eight.

Waterville (0-1) was led by Jordan Jabar with 10 points and Maddie Foster with seven.

RANGELEY 46, RICHMOND 26: Taylor Esty scored 16 points to lead the Lakers to the East/West Conference win Friday in Richmond.

Blayke Morin added 11 points for Rangeley (1-0).

Richmond (0-1) was led by Meranda Martin with 10 points and Sydney Tilton with seven.

CAMDEN HILLS 45, ERSKINE 29: Charlotte Messer scored 12 points and Rachel Pease added 11 to lead the Windjammers to the KVAC B win Friday in South China.

Taylor Boucher led Erskine (0-1) with nine points and nine rebounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL

FOREST HILLS 76, VINALHAVEN 33: Brandon Ouellette drained five 3-pointers on his way to 19 points in a 43-point rout on Vinalhaven Saturday morning.

Matt Turner, Ryan Petrin and Carson Veilleux all joined Ouellette in double figures with 16, 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Tigers improved to 2-0 with the win thanks to their 67-40 win over the Vikings Friday night.

MESSALONSKEE 67, MT. ARARAT 65 (OT): Nick Mayo scored a game-high 41 points and added 16 rebounds and three blocks to lead Messalonskee to the KVAC A win in Topsham. Jack Bernatchez scored four points and grabbed eight rebounds Friday in Topsham.

Shy Ulrickson scored 27 to lead Mt. Ararat.

RICHMOND 69, RANGELEY 28: Cody Tribbett scored 12 points and Cameron Emmons added eight to lead the Bobcats. Timmy White scored eight points to pace Rangeley on Friday.

OAK HILL 61, ST. DOMINIC 59: Jonah Martin scored 19 points to lead the Raiders to the MVC win Friday in Auburn.

Adam Merrill added 11 points for Oak Hill (1-0).

St. Dominic (0-1) was led by Mike Bryant with a game-high 33 points.

MONMOUTH 50, LISBON 42: Kasey Smith scored 27 points to lead the host Mustangs to the season-opening MVC win Friday.

Hunter Richardson added eight points for Monmouth (1-0).

Jonah Sautter led Lisbon (0-1) with 19 points, including five 3-pointers.
