The Central Maine Square Dance Club of Waterville held its club’s Christmas party Dec. 2 during its weekly workshop. As in the past, the members chose not to exchange gifts, but rather use the opportunity to collect gifts for the Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers of Waterville, according to a news release from the club. These gifts included toys and clothing. The evening began with a potluck supper followed by dancing and a visit from Santa.

On Dec. 7, the club held its monthly dance with early round dancing. This dance also advertised to all clubs in the state about the collection of gifts for the Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers, according to Jeff Howes, the club’s president. The dance was a success and between the two events the club donateed more than $700 worth of clothing and toys to the home.

The club’s next dance is 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015. The club will offer beginner square dance lessons starting Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and the first two lessons are free to beginners.
