The price of heating oil continues to fall in Maine and is now more than 30 percent lower than a year ago, according to the latest fuel price survey by the Governor’s Energy Office.

As of Monday, the statewide average price for No. 2 heating oil was $2.63 per gallon, 8 cents lower than the previous Monday, the survey found. A year ago, a gallon of heating oil averaged $3.81 in Maine.

The average statewide price for kerosene on Monday was $3.24 per gallon, 7 cents lower than a week earlier, according to the survey. A year ago, kerosene averaged $4.21 per gallon.

The average propane price for heating customers remained roughly the same as the previous week at $2.73 per gallon, the survey found. A year ago, it averaged $3.17 per gallon.
