MONMOUTH — Monmouth took a 19-point halftime lead and never looked back on its way to a 50-37 win over Telstar in Mountain Valley Conference girls basketball action Wednesday night.
Maddie Amero scored 12 points to lead the Mustangs (8-3). Sidney Wilson added seven points and seven rebounds while Abbey Allen had five points with seven rebounds.
Telstar (0-11) was led by Becca Howard with a game-high 21 points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
RICHMOND 58, PINE TREE 40: Cody Tribbet scored 17 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the host Bobcats to the victory.
Bailey Johansen grabbed 15 rebounds to go along with six points for Richmond (5-4). Zach Small added 16 points and Cameron Emmons 10.
Pine Tree was led by J.P. Tshmala with 19 points.
BOYS HOCKEY
LAWRENCE/SKOWHEGAN 4, POLAND/GRAY-NEW GLOUCSTER/OAK HILL 1: Brady Martin and Cody Martin each scored two to lead the Bandits to the win at Sukee Arena in Winslow.
Sam Haver, Adam Littlefield, Tyler Lewis and Trey Michonski had an assist apiece for the Bandits (3-5-1). Curtis Martin stopped 16 shots.
The 26ers (3-6-0) got a goal from Bailey Drouin off an assist from Ethan Cailler. Nick Hemond made 36 saves.
