AUGUSTA — A city woman was charged with impaired driving Sunday morning in connection with a crash that sent a Dresden man to the hospital with minor injuries.

Betsy Robertson, 35, of Augusta, was charged with operating under the influence after a crash that was reported at 10:08 a.m. on Old Belgrade Road, said Sgt. Christian Behr of the Augusta Police Department. He said police charged Robertson after an initial investigation, but late Sunday morning, Behr said he wouldn’t name the substance she’s accused of using until his department receives the results of a chemical test.

He said police are investigating the crash, but that it appears that Robertson’s sedan crossed the center line near the intersection with Middle Road and sideswiped a car driven by James Dickau, 55, of Dresden. Dickau was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center with minor injuries to his hand, Behr said.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene, but the road was never shut down, according to Behr.
