WATERVILLE — Megan Pelletier, a Messalonskee graduate, scored her 1,000th career point but it was not enough as the University of Southern Maine women’s basketball team dropped a 72-65 decision to Colby College Tuesday.

Pelletier was 7-for-12 from the field and 5-for-8 from the free throw line to finish with 19 points. She is the 28th player in USM (9-11, 5-4 Little East Conference) history to eclipse the 1,000-point plateau, and for her career has 1,012 points, 514 rebounds, 107 assists, 91 steals and 98 blocked shots.

For Colby, Brooke Chandor poured in a game-high 25 points and nine rebounds, Mia Diplock added 11 points and five assists and Carylanne Wolfington chipped in with nine points for the Mules (14-6, 3-4 New England Small College Athletic Conference).

UM-AUGUSTA 66, UNITY 12: Jamie Plummer had a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Moose to a win in Augusta.

Jessica St. Amand added 11 points for UMA (11-9, 5-4 Yankee Small College Conference), while Erica Fredrick-Rock finished with 10 rebounds.

Shelby Hall led Unity (1-12, 1-11 YSCC) with six points.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

COLBY 76, SOUTHERN MAINE 64: Sam Wilson netted a game-high 22 points as the Mules held off the Huskies in Waterville.

Ryan Jann added 16 points for Colby (12-9, 4-4 NESCAC), Connor O’Neil finished with 13 and Luke Westman scored 10.

Zach Leal had 16 points to lead USM (4-16, 1-8 LEC).

BATES 77, UM-FARMINGTON 64: Mike Boornazian’s 26 points helped the Bobcats (15-4, 4-2 NESCAC) earn a non-conference win over the Beavers in Lewiston.

Uriah Forest-Bulley led UMF (4-15, 3-9 North Atlantic Conference) with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Nick Hilton chipped in with 14 points with six boards.

VERMONT 68, MAINE 49: Kevin Little scored 17 points in his return for the Black Bears but it was not enough as the Black Bears fell to the Catamounts in Burlington.

Shaun Lawton was the only other Maine (2-21, 1-9 America East) player in double figures with 12 points, while Dre Wills and Cam Ward each recorded 14 points to lead Vermont (13-10, 8-2).
