CAMDEN — It’s all going downhill at the Camden Snow Bowl.

The U.S. National Toboggan Championships continue Saturday in Camden. The 25th annual event invites participants to ride traditional wooden toboggans down a 400-foot chute that dates to the 1930s at speeds that top 40 mph. Organizers say 425 teams from all over the U.S. and Canada are participating.

The contest has competitions for two-, three- and four-person teams. The first and second runs in each division are scheduled for Saturday, beginning with the two- and three-person divisions at 8 a.m. There will also be a chili challenge at 11 a.m. and a costume contest parade at noon.

Last year’s winners were all from Maine and were called Two Wingnuts, Absolute Zeros and Instigator.
