Celebrating its 24th consecutive year of the Lenten organ concerts, the First Baptist Church of Waterville has announced the following concert schedule:

• March 8: Ed Larson, retired organist from Penny Memorial Baptist Church, Augusta

• March 15: Sharon Saunders, organist at United Methodist Church, Waterville

• March 22: Don Pauley, well-known musician in central Maine

• March 29: Jay Zoller, organist St. Parish Congregational Church, Augusta

Concerts will be held at 2 p.m., followed by a meet/greet of the musician of the day, according to a news release from the church.

The concerts are under the direction of the church organists Lynne Burney of Augusta and Mary Matteson of South China.

According to the release, an interesting feature of the concerts at the church is that the organ is moved into the idle of the sanctuary. Seldom can one see the actual playing of an organ, but by moving the instrument in view, it affords an opportunity not only to hear, but to view the musicians perform the keyboard as well as the foot pedals.

The concerts are open to the public at no charge; all are welcome.
