In riding the political scooter of welfare reform and aid to illegal aliens, our governor has showcased himself in the shadows of the infamous Sen. Joseph McCarthy.
As McCarthy denigrated successful people such as Gen. George Marshall, so has Gov. Paul LePage pressured the resignation of our community college leader, who was well respected. The voters of Maine ushered in a new era of watered-down McCarthyism, and some may awaken when their property taxes skyrocket.
