UNITY — Sebasticook Regional Land Trust will host a family fun event from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7. This event, at the Richardson Memorial Preserve on Stevens Road, is presented in partnership with Waldo County General Hospital and 5210 Let’s Go! Waldo County. A limited number of youth snowshoes will be available for loan, as well as hot cocoa and healthy snacks, according to a news release from the land trust.

Those who attend can snow-shoe, sled, ski, make snow angels — perhaps the weather will actually be warm enough to allow a chance to make a snowman or two. There also will be an opportunity to help clean out and make any necessary repairs to the bluebird nesting boxes in anticipation of spring’s return, according to the release. The boxes were built and installed in 2014 by the Cub Scouts in Unity Pack 233.

Richardson Memorial Preserve is on the Stevens Road in Unity, nearly opposite the intersection with Bailey Road. Parking is along the road. The Preserve was a gift to the community from the family of Carl Richardson in 2003.
