An Augusta businessman was not hurt after his truck landed in a ditch off U.S. Route 202 in Winthrop on Wednesday afternoon.

Norm Elvin, 61, the president of G&E Roofing, was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta for an evaluation after the crash, which happened at 12:25 p.m. near the road’s intersection with Ashaloona Drive, said Winthrop Police Capt. Ryan Frost.

Elvin’s truck hit a guardrail on the eastbound side of the road, then crossed over the oncoming westbound lane and rolled over into a ditch, Frost said. Police are still trying to determine the cause of the crash, but Frost said that no charges are anticipated and Elvin was wearing a seatbelt. The town’s fire department and ambulance service responded.

A well-known figure in central Maine, Elvin has donated to the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care and is on the board of the Kennebec Valley YMCA in Augusta. In 2014, he sold the China Dine-ah. In addition to his roofing company, he still owns Norm’s Seafood and Chicken, a takeout restaurant in South China.
