Article in the March 12 newspaper, “Report analyzes benefits of solar,” was about several bills before the Legislature regarding solar power.

I don’t know why more people in Maine don’t make good use of solar, especially in their camps, which are often quite far from the nearest power line. Our camp is about one-quarter mile from electricity, so we have solar power. It is great. Lights in every room and outside with the flick of a switch.

If one considers how difficult it is to wash dishes or read a book by gas light, it is easy to see why solar makes so much sense. People should look up an installer and see how reasonable installing solar power can be.

We don’t need the government passing bills to get us to make the most sensible choice, do we? If I ever build another camp, it also will have solar power.
