The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office is investigating reports of gunshots being fired in a West Bath neighborhood, including a report that a bullet shattered a car window.

Sheriff Joel Merry said Casey Parquette, 66, of West Bath thought she heard gunshots in her Higgins Road neighborhood around 6 p.m. Friday. About 90 minutes later, Parquette got into her car and was going to Bath to pick up a pizza when she “heard the crinkling of broken glass.”

When she pulled over, Parquette saw that her rear passenger side window was broken.

Merry said the deputy who investigated did not recover a bullet but said the rear passenger side window was shattered in a pattern consistent with a bullet striking it. It’s not clear whether the bullet hit the window when the car was parked or when Parquette was driving.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the sheriff’s office at 443-8201.
