Calling all musicians: Ken Tyler, of West Gardiner, a retired director of the United States Air Force Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, along with some other marching band members, want to see if there is interest to march in an all state marching band. Musicians sought include junior high and high school students who need the experience and practice, rusty musicians who want to get back in shape, and just about anyone who can play an instrument and can march, according to a news release from Tyler.

Tentative plans are to have rehearsals in different areas of the state, then combine the groups for performances. There appears to be much interest in having a marching band for parades and festivals throughout the state, according to the release. Rehearsals hopefully will start in April, with plans to march in parades this summer.

More instructors and some support people also are needed.

Musicians who are interested are encouraged to contact Tyler at 592-4536 or marching@roadrunner.com.
