The Friends of the Pittsfield Public Library will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Warren Community Room at the Pittsfield Public Library, 110 Library St. All members and prospective members are invited to attend, according to a news release from the library.
Also, as part of the Local & Legendary: Maine in the Civil War program to engage Maine communities in their Civil War history, the One Book, One Community book discussion group will meet at 6:30 p.m. “Soldier’s Heart” by Gary Paulsen will be discussed. Scholar Jeffrey Sychterz will facilitate.
Paulsen shows battle by battle the elements of war through one boy’s eyes and one boy’s heart, and gives a voice to all the anonymous young men who fought in the Civil War, according to the release. Books are available at the library.
