SKOWHEGAN — Local woodworking artisan Elsa Apetz will teach a free class about the finer points of scroll saw woodworking at 7 p.m. Friday, April 24, at Skowhegan Free Public Library, 9 Elm St.

Topics will include facts about scroll saws, different types of wood used and where to get it, different types of scroll saw blades, and reasons to use a particular saw. She will demonstrate different examples of each of the various scroll saw techniques (silhouettes, segmentation, fretwork, compound cutting and intarsia).
