BREWER — Sidney Cheever plated Haley Ward with an infield single in the sixth inning to give the Cony softball team a 1-0 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A win over Brewer Thursday.

Ward reached base on a error to start the inning and was moved by an Arika Brochu bunt single before Cheever delivered the game-winning hit.

Brochu picked up the win in the circle for Cony (4-2).

Brewer falls to 2-4.

GARDINER 23, WATERVILLE 0, 5 innings: The Tigers scored at least two runs in each inning to take the KVAC B win in Gardiner.

Lily Chepke tripled for Gardiner, while Kristal Smith doubled. Gardiner is 7-0, Waterville is 1-6.

RICHMOND 10, RANGELEY 1: Meranda Martin struck out 10 and walked just two to help the Bobcats take the East/West Conference win.

Cassidy Harriman hit a pair of triples for Richmond (5-0). Taylor Esty had three singles for Rangeley (1-3).

BOYS LACROSSE

GARDINER 17, ERSKINE 2: The Tigers jumped out to a 10-1 lead by halftime and never looked back in a KVAC B win over the Eagles in South China.

Chase Begin led Gardiner (4-1) with five goal and four assists, Josh Caldwell added three goals and five assists and Michael Poirier finished with a hat trick.

Trevor Browne and Tyler Rollins had the two goals for Erskine (1-5).

BASEBALL

RICHMOND 12, RANGELEY 2: Nate Kendrick had three hits and drove in three runs to help the Bobcats take the East/West Conference win in Richmond.

Zach Small had three hits and drove in two runs for Richmond (5-1). Rangeley scored both runs in the fifth inning.

GIRLS LACROSSE

MESSALONSKEE 13, BRUNSWICK 9: Ally Turner led all scorers with five goals as the Eagles topped the Dragons in a KVAC A clash in Oakland.

India Languet and Nathalie St. Pierre accounted for the rest of Messalonskee’s scoring with four goals apiece. Sydni Collier and Gabriela Languet split time in net for the Eagles (5-0), making eight and three saves, respectively. Anna McMillan and Angelica Boyle scored three goals each for Brunswick (2-3).
