Community members with personal connections to Hathaway or other textile mills are invited to share their stories and photos Thursday, May 14, at a discussion panel and Q&A on the Textile History of Maine Mill Towns at Common Street Arts, 16 Common St. This free event is set for 6:30-8 p.m., refreshments will be served.
Held in conjunction with the art exhibition, “Underlying Threads, Interpreting the Textile History of a Mill Town,” the event will include a presentation by Earle G. Shettleworth Jr., Maine State Historian, and Libby Bischof, Ph.D., Associate Professor of History, University of Southern Maine, on mill history and the social/cultural impact of the textile industry in Maine. Some exhibiting artists will discuss their works and audience members are invited to share their stories.
