BOSTON — Two women have been sentenced to federal prison terms in Massachusetts for their role in a sex trafficking ring that transported other women across state lines to engage in prostitution.

Prosecutors say 26-year-old Vanessa Grandoit, of Boston, was sentenced Thursday to one year in prison and five years of probation. Her sentencing comes on the heels of the recent sentencing of Kairis “Lola” Sanchez, of Boston and Portland, Maine, to 18 months in prison and five years of probation.

Authorities say the women were members of a human trafficking ring that transported nine women, six of whom were under the age of 18, to states across the Northeast, the deep South and as far west as Nevada and California to engage in prostitution. The women acted mainly as drivers.
