SOUTH CHINA — Zack Glidden struck out the last two batters to strand the potential tying and winning runs in scoring position and give Dylan Presby his first varsity win as Erskine edged Leavitt 3-1 in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B baseball action Wednesday.

Presby tossed 6 1/3 strong innings, allowing five hits before giving way to Glidden with runners at second and third. Nick Turcotte had an RBI single and Caleb Cummings a two-run single for the Eagles (3-1). Ian Godfrey drove in the only run for the Hornets (2-7).

GARDINER 8, MEDOMAK VALLEY 6: Brady Smith had a pair of hits and pitched two scoreless innings of relief in the Tigers’ KVAC B win in Waldoboro.

Nic Berube chipped in with three singles for Gardiner (7-2), Logan Peacock had two singles and Brad Weston clubbed a double.

Riley McCollett had two hits, including a triple, for Medomak Valley (3-6).

MESSALONSKEE 9, BREWER 1: Trevor Gettig went 3-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base as the Eagles prevailed in a KVAC A game in Oakland.

Connor Garland and Sam Bell each went 2-for-4 for the Eagles (7-1). Nick Mayo struck out 12 in six innings, allowing three hits and walking four, to earn the victory.

Jacob Courier doubled for Brewer (6-3).

DIRIGO 7, WINTHROP 0: Kaine Hutchins pitched a four-hit shutout to lead the Cougars to the Mountain Valley Conference win.

Hutchins faced 23 batters, striking out seven and walking none for Dirigo (8-1).

Ben Allen also pitched a complete game for Winthrop (6-2). He gave up five hits and struck out four.

SOFTBALL

CONY 9, LAWRENCE 2: Arika Brochu had a home run, single, three RBIs and earned the win in the circle to lead the Rams to the KVAC A win in Fairfield.

Kassidy Turgeon added three singles for Cony (7-2) while Haley Ward had a triple and single. Delaney Keithley contributed two singles while Sydney Cheever also had a home run.

Katie Lindsey had a double and single for Lawrence (2-8).

OAK HILL 10, LISBON 7: Iris Abbott had a triple, double, two singles, and two RBIs to pace the Raiders in Lisbon.

Jamie Prue added a triple, a single and three RBIs for Oak Hill (6-3) while Grace Sabine and Sadie Goulet each chipped in with a triple, a double and an RBI.

Molly Nicholson had two singles, a double and an RBI to lead Lisbon (5-4).

MESSALONSKEE 5, BREWER 3: Maddyson Charest had two hits, including a double, to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Oakland.

MollyAn Killingbeck also had a pair of hits for Messalonskee (7-2). Kirsten Pelletier struck out 15 without walking a batter to earn the victory.

Brewer, which scored all its runs in the top of the first, dropped to 4-5. Anna Chute led the Witches with a pair of singles.

MONMOUTH 14, MT. ABRAM 1, 5 innings: The Mustangs broke open a close game with seven runs in the fourth inning and five in the fifth to down the Roadrunners in Salem Township.

Caroline Bonenfant led Monmouth with a home run, a double and a single. Caleigh Copeland and Tia Day each added two hits for the Mustangs (5-4). Em Chasse pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts.

Mt. Abram is 3-6.

DIRIGO 30, WINTHROP 2, 5 innings: The Cougars had six doubles and two triples among their 21 hits in the MVC victory in Dixfield.

Katelyn Olsen had four hits, and Megan Bradbury and Gabby Scott added three apiece.

Kaleigh Oberg and Shie Smith each doubled for Winthrop (1-7)

BOYS LACROSSE

CONY 8, EDWARD LITTLE 3: Brett Sproul and Dale Lapierre each had two goals and one assist to give the Rams the Eastern A victory in Auburn.

Chad Bickford added a goal and two assists for Cony (3-4) while Joel Bennett, Anthony Sousa and Nate Foye also scored. Cam Gallant made 12 saves.

Gino Mancini, Ethan Nadeau and Matt Verrill scored for Edward Little (3-4). Brandon Assebo made four saves.

MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 17, MORSE 7: Denver Cram scored six goals and Ty Smith added four as the Hawks cruised at Kents Hill.

James Canwell scored three goals and Kyle Morand had two goals and an assist for the Hawks (7-1).

Isaiah Weston had seven saves for Maranacook/Winthrop while Ryan Muncey had 13 for the Shipbuilders (4-3).

MESSALONSKEE 15, OXFORD HILLS 4: Dylan Jones scored four goals and assisted on two others as the Eagles rolled the Vikings in Oakland.

Connor Smith added three goals for Messalonskee (5-2), while Dylan Burton scored twice and picked up an assist.

John Lejauhod led Oxford Hills (0-6) with three goals.

OAK HILL 9, ST. DOMINIC 5: Matt Gilbert scored three goals and brother Steven Gilbert added a pair to lead the Raiders past the Saints in Wales.

Kaleb Sturtevant had a goal, an assist and six groundballs for Oak Hill as well. Chad Merrill had a game-high nine groundballs.

Kenton Ernst scored two goals to pace St. Dom’s.
