WATERVILLE — St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 60 Eustis Parkway, will welcome Don Kerr, new organist and music director, during the 10:15 a.m. service Sunday, May 17. Kerr was chosen after an extensive search process.
Kerr comes most recently from upstate New York, where he lived for the last 30 years. Prior to that, he worked in church positions in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Oklahoma.
He has studied with Edward B. Gammons of the Groton School and Jack Fisher of Emmanuel Church in Boston. He was a graduate fellow at the University of Vermont and Harvard University. He has also studied organ and harpsichord in Montreal, according to a news release from the church.
Also a Latin master and English teacher, Kerr has a love for literature and writing. He was the librettist for three musical dramas composed by the British composer Alan Ridout. He also was the Poet-in-Residence for the Montreal Boys’ School in Quebec.
St. Mark’s will welcome Kerr with the return of the choir and a special coffee hour.
