HINCKLEY — L.C. Bates Museum has announced the following programs and events:

• Rocks Rock, 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13.

Families are invited to try out rock experiments, look under black lights at rocks glowing, and participate in cracking open a geode. Every visitor will bring home a small piece of rock along with information about the rocks and minerals.

• International Sun Day, 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 21.

Celebrate Summer Solstice by looking though a telescope safely at the sun, trying out fun sun activities, and making a sun model to bring home. If clouds, a live stream of the Solar Dynamics Observatory will be held inside the museum. Rainy day activities also are planned.

• Wednesday Afternoon Art Program at 1 p.m.

Explore art every afternoon of summer in various mini workshops exploring watercolors, pencils, collage, charcoal etc. Those who have a big group that plan to attend are asked to call ahead. June 17, 24 July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 and Aug, 5, 12 and 19

• Art in the Audubon Room, 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11. Make watercolors of birds in the historic Audubon Room to bring home.

• Old Time Toys, 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18. Use graces, hoops and sticks and many more on the museum lawn. For all ages.

• Firefly and Moth Night, 8:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, July 25.

• National Moth Week is July 18-25. Celebrate two insects of the night. Learn about fireflies and their bioluminescence that light up fields on July. Catch and release them and learn how to attract moths using bait and lights. Also see pollinators up close and personal.
