KENTS HILL — The Maranacook/Winthrop lacrosse team struggled a bit early in its Eastern B quarterfinal game Wednesday against Morse.

“We led just 3-0 at the end of the first and we just had to buckle down,” Hawks coach Zach Stewart said. “We had to take control.”

The top-seeded Hawks (11-2) did just that, exploding for eight goals in the second en route to a convincing 14-2 victory over No. 8 Morse (7-7) at Kents Hill.

“It was awesome,” Stewart added. “We just took the game over. It was nice to see.”

Denver Cram, Ty Smith, Josh Murphy and Kyle Morand each scored three goals to lead the charge. Bailey Clark and James Canwell also scored for the Hawks, who will play No. 4 North Yarmouth Academy (5-8) in a regional semifinal Friday at 4 p.m., also at Kents Hill.

NYA toppled No. 5 Oak Hill 10-6 on Wednesday.
