ROCKLAND — Police say a 25-year-old man has died from injuries he sustained after falling off the deck of a bar late Friday night.

Mark Boynton of Rockland fell about 17 feet to the pavement below the deck at The Time Out Pub on Main Street in Rockland, WCSH-TV reported.

Police said Boynton reportedly was attempting to use the upper deck’s railing as a seat when he fell. The accident took place around 11:36 p.m.

Boynton was initially transported to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport and was later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he died Saturday.

Boynton was employed as a bartender at Cappy’s Chowder House in Camden, according to his Facebook page. He attended Maine Maritime Academy.

Rockland police and the Office of Chief Medical Examiner are investigating his death.
